«Talleres abiertos.

«Open workshops. The work of six artists seen from inside
We saw them at ARCO presenting their latest work and bringing fresh and renewed air to the usual «safe values» that, year after year, we find at the fair. After the frenzy and the «showcase effect» of an art fair, all have returned to the tranquility of the studio to put their current projects in order. From Madrid to Tokyo, passing through Berlin, the six open the doors of their workshop to show their particular workspace. A personal oasis set up in rented premises, residences for artists or, simply, at the home table. (…)
PAULA RUBIO INFANTE
He has just won the ARCO Community of Madrid Award for young artists with his project Come Mierda (2010), present on the stand of the Format Format Gallery in Madrid. As always in his work, all part of some photographs: the first, a fume hood of the kitchen of the old prison of Zamora and the second, the current state of the common grave of the cemetery of the town of Toro . «From the photographs I take an element that appears in them and I build it, imitating it, in three dimensions and large format. My works end up being an amalgam of things impossible to fragment, «he explains. With the same unit of meaning, Paula Rubio Infante (Madrid, 1977) links one project with another. He continues to work on the game in Plato a la naranja, which will take him to the MACO fair in Mexico in April, and he goes back to the idea of continuing to work with the bull pit, illuminating it as they once did with each execution. From his workshop in Chapinería, 50 km from Madrid, he works in a disciplined manner, «from 8 to 10 hours, like a bricklayer»; On the outskirts of the capital, he has found the calm and the context that best suits his interests: «In Madrid I shared a studio with 6 people and here it is cheaper. In addition, my work has a lot to do with the peripheral and the rural environment »
